(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police arrested a man on July 30, 2015, for stealing twenty-four catalytic converters throughout the county in the last month.
Robert Storey was observed by Suffolk County Police Officer Timothy Conroy stealing a catalytic converter from a truck parked at a business, located on Skip Lane in Baywood, at approximately 4:35 a.m. yesterday morning.

Further investigation by Fourth, and Fifth Precinct detectives, Property Recovery detectives and officers from the Larceny Task Force, determined Storey is responsible for numerous thefts of catalytic converters since June 29. Storey predominantly targeted trucks parked at businesses located in industrial areas during the early morning hours.
Storey, 33, of Deer Park, was charged with two counts of Auto Stripping 1st Degree, nine counts of Auto Stripping 2nd Degree, three counts of Auto Stripping 3rd Degree, five counts of Criminal Mischief 2nd Degree, seven counts of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, two counts of Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and ten counts of Grand Larceny 4th Degree.
Storey is being held at the Fifth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 31
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
