(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police arrested a Selden woman for stabbing her friend during a dispute on Monday, February 15.
Sixth Precinct officers responded to a residence on Magnolia Drive in Selden at approximately 3 a.m. after a 911 caller reported a woman had been stabbed during a dispute between friends. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old Manorville woman had been stabbed in her right arm and was suffering from excessive blood loss.

Officer Kevin Butler, who is a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), applied a combat application tourniquet to the woman’s arm to control the bleeding. Officer Butler stabilized the victim who was then transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was admitted after emergency surgery.
Ashley Zervakos, 22, who lives at the home, was charged by Sixth Squad detectives with Assault 1st Degree. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on February 16.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
