Senator Gillibrand adds to growing list of endorsements for Throne-Holst Campaign
(Long Island, NY) Senator Kirsten Gillibrand endorsed Anna Throne-Holst for Congress in New York’s 1st Congressional District. As one of the most popular and effective Democratic leaders in the state of New York, Senator Gillibrand’s endorsement reinforces the strength of Throne-Holst’s candidacy.
In 2012 Senator Gillibrand won the first Congressional District with over 62% of the vote.
Senator Gillibrand released the following statement:
“Throughout her career as Southampton Town Supervisor, as a mother and as an educator Anna Throne-Holst has dedicated herself to helping create more opportunities for New Yorkers. Whether it was founding a school, running a child care center or serving as Town Supervisor, Anna has a record of fighting for families and helping those who need it most. Her commitment to creating more opportunities for others and her dedication to helping New York families is why I’m endorsing Anna Throne-Holst, who I know will be a tireless fighter for her constituents in Congress.”
Throne-Holst said, “Senator Gillibrand is an exemplary leader for New York and our nation. She has led the way on protecting women’s health, Veteran’s access to services, creating jobs, and improving educational opportunities. Senator Gillibrand’s ability to craft and champion consensus on important legislation on critical issues such as protecting and supporting First Responders and the women and men serving in our armed forces, is the same brand of representation and effective leadership I strove for as I represented on the local level, and will continue to do in Washington. Kirsten represents an important brand of leadership based on her thorough knowledge and immersion in to the issues important to the region, and then working tirelessly to ensure implementation. I’m proud to have her support and I am excited to work with her to improve the lives of middle class families and business, including the important agricultural industry, on Long Island.”
Anna Throne-Holst has also been endorsed by Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer, Rep. Steve Israel, Rep. Joe Crowley, Rep. Kathleen Rice, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, Rep. Paul Tonko and former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy. She has also been endorsed by local elected officials at all levels of government including Suffolk County Legislator Bill Lindsay, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman, Shelter Island Town Supervisor Jim Dougherty, and Assemblyman Fred Thiele.
Anna Throne-Holst is the former Southampton Town Supervisor and a working mother of four children – Nicholas, Max, Sebastian and Karess. She is running for the Democratic nomination to take on Republican Congressman Lee Zeldin.
