Science, Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Incentive Program Offers Full SUNY tuition for students in Top 10% of High School Class
(Long Island, NY) Chairman of the State Senate Higher Education Committee, Senator Ken LaValle announced the availability of a new round of scholarships to encourage high school students to pursue high tech careers in New York State. The New York State Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Incentive Program provides a full SUNY tuition scholarship to the top ten percent of students in New York high schools if they major in a STEM field and work in a STEM job in New York State for five years after graduation.
“I have worked hard to bring state investment into economic development in our region, and the STEM program is another component necessary to encourage our young talent to stay here. This innovative program will encourage our young, bright, aspiring students to remain on Long Island as they build their careers, futures and families. I’m glad we are able to once again offer the STEM scholarships. I encourage all eligible students to apply.” said Senator LaValle.
To qualify for a STEM award, a student must be attending a New York State high school and be ranked in the top ten percent of his/her graduating class and enroll in full-time study at a SUNY in the fall term following high school graduation.
