Panepinto: As the father of three daughters, I am proud to raise them in a state that leads the nation in this fight.”
(Long Island, NY) Senator Marc Panepinto (D-Buffalo) praised fellow lawmakers for the passage of legislation to put a definitive end to the crime of campus sexual assault. Following a unanimous vote presided over by Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, who embarked on a tireless campaign for this legislation, Senator Panepinto made the following remarks:
“Today’s historic vote presided over by Lieutenant Governor Hochul will have an impact far beyond the borders of New York State. By providing a safe environment for students of all walks of life, this ground-breaking legislation will set the tone for college campuses like SUNY Buffalo State in my own district and across the country. This legislation outlines definitive steps to fight and put an end to campus sexual assault. At the same time, it provides a clear course of action for victims of these heinous crimes. As the father of three daughters, I am proud to raise them in a state that leads the nation in this fight. I offer my sincerest thanks to Lt. Governor Hochul for her tireless efforts to address this issue and to my colleagues in the Senate for heeding the call that “enough is enough.”
Senator Panepinto represents the 60th Senate District, which includes parts of the City of Buffalo as well as communities in both the Northtowns and the Southtowns of Western New York.
