(Long Island, NY) Senator Croci to Host the “New York State Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction” and a Free Substance Abuse Awareness and Opioid Overdose Prevention Training Class
(Long Island, NY) Senator Tom Croci, member of the Senate Heroin Task Force and also of the State Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, will host the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction on Long Island on Thursday, April 7, 2016. The Task Force has been traveling state-wide hosting public forums to gather testimony and input on the epidemic of increased heroin abuse in New York State.
Senator Croci, in conjunction with the Suffolk County Department of Health Emergency Medical Services, will also host a free course to train participants how to recognize an opioid overdose and how to administer the life-saving drug Naloxone (Narcan). Participants will receive a certificate of completion and an emergency resuscitation kit that includes Narcan, as well as training on steps to take until EMS arrive to the scene. All participants must be over 18 years of age and must pre-register online at: www.croci.nysenate.gov.
