(Long Island, NY) Janet Jacobs Jackowski, LCSW, CASAC of Southold has been named Social Worker of the Year for 2013. A Behavioral Health supervisor at Eastern Long Island Hospital, Janet receives this honor of distinction by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

Working in the field of substance abuse and mental health for 18 years, Janet is committed to working with individuals affected by substance use disorders. She believes that direct clinical work and social advocacy are imperative in assisting these individuals toward a life in recovery. Kindness, empathy and a deep belief in each person’s unique ability to make change are paramount in how Janet provides treatment.
There are approximately 20,000 addictions professionals working tirelessly to improve lives and make New York State’s communities safer and drug-free. These professionals maintain the highest degree of proficiency and ethical practice; and engage in continuous learning and clinical development.
“Without these extremely dedicated professionals, the pathway to recovery would be made more difficult for thousands of New Yorkers,” said NYS OASAS Commissioner Arlene Gonzalez-Sanchez.
