(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau reports the details of an arrest for Grand Larceny that occurred on April 28, 2012 in Westbury.
According to Crimes Against Property detectives, defendant Lee M. Shapiro, 54, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was employed as a finance officer for Advantage Nissan in Westbury. On April 28, 2012 a customer entered the dealership to pay off a car loan for $25,000.00. The defendant took the cash, gave the victim a signed receipt, but never paid the loan company. Defendant Shapiro then left the dealership without returning.

After an investigation, detectives were able to locate the defendant in South Carolina. A Nassau County warrant was issued and on June 11, 2015 defendant Shapiro was extradited back to Nassau County and placed under arrest.
The defendant is being charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree and Petit Larceny. He will be arraigned on Friday, June 12, 2015 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
