(Long Island, NY) The First Squad reports the arrest of a South Hempstead man on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 1:10 a.m. for Robbery.
According to detectives, on August 19, 2015 at 2:50 p.m. Romell Richardson, 20, met a former girlfriend on the corner of Irene Street and Webber Avenue to exchange custody of their 18 month old child. An argument ensued and Richardson pulled out a small black hand gun and removed the victim’s wallet and cellphone from her hand before fleeing the scene. The victim left with her child and notified police. There were no injuries.

On October 17, 2015 at 1:10 a.m. First Squad detectives located Richardson in the rear of 1933 Grand Avenue, Baldwin and placed him under arrest. During the investigation it was determined that he violated an order of protection during the encounter.
Richardson is charged with Robbery 1st degree, Criminal Contempt 1st degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
