(Franklin Square, NY) In the wake of the conviction of Hempstead Town Clerk, Mark Bonilla, Supervisor Kate Murray stated that those who violate the public trust no longer have any place in public service.
In January of this year the defendants in the case of Madden v. Town of Hempstead (which includes Supervisor Murray) willingly accepted a judgment against their names for violating the Constitutional rights of three Town residents (Diane Madden, Lucille Defina, and Frances Lucivero).
For over two years the Town of Hempstead government litigated the statements made in the complaint costing taxpayers over $600,000 dollars. Over this period, Supervisor Murray dismissed the merit of the lawsuit characterizing these residents as disgruntled.
By accepting this judgment, Supervisor Murray accepts liability for the claims made in the complaint and validates that she did indeed violate the public trust.
