(Long Island, NY) Statement from Senator Ken LaValle concerning the Department of Public Service’s review of the LIPA/PSEG Long Island rate filing:
“Over the years, I have been consistent in expressing my displeasure with the high electric rates that have plagued Long Island families and I strongly oppose LIPA’s rate increase proposal. The Department of Public Service was created as a mechanism to assure fair practice and rate payer protection.
I am pleased to see that the Department has completed its review of the current rate increase proposal and agrees that the increase is too high. However, questions still remain with regard to the LIPA/PSEG Long Island accounting. I look forward to the disclosure of more information as the rate case progresses.”
