Officials encourage safe worship environment in light of Charleston shooting
(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Edward Webber and members of the Suffolk County and Southampton Town police departments are hosting a second security training workshop for clergy members and their congregants at the Southampton campus of Stony Brook University.
Following a successful workshop held in Brentwood in June, officials will meet on the East End of Long Island to ensure that houses of worship are following and implementing security protocols that will protect their congregants and provide a safe environment to worship.
Officials will speak about crime prevention protocols and specific security measures that can be followed at houses of worship.
