(Yaphank, NY) Yesterday, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone declared a State of Emergency for Suffolk County as of 4:00pm.
The Suffolk County Emergency Operations Center opened at 8:00am yesterday and is expected to remain open throughout the duration of the weather event.
Residential Rental Heating Requirement Reminder:
Every dwelling in Suffolk County is required to have heating facilities that are properly installed and maintained in working order. During the months between October 1 and May 31, the minimum temperature to be provided must be 68 degrees Fahrenheit whenever the outdoor temperature falls below 55 degrees. Tenants who wish to report noncompliance with these requirements may call the Suffolk County Department of Health Services at 631-852-5900 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. If it is after hours, call FRES at (631) 852-4900.
