(Hauppauge, NY) County Executive Steve Bellone announced that the Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club will feature Anil Dhundale, Ph.D., Executive Director of the Long Island High Technology Incubator (LIHTI) and Clean Energy Business Incubator Program (CEBIP). Dr. Dhundale will give an overview of the economic development programs at Stony Brook University (SBU) and a preview of the new START-UP NY program: http://www.governor.ny.gov/2013-startupny/startupny.
“Stony Brook University is a partner in economic development within Suffolk County,” County Executive Bellone said. “We encourage all of our businesses to take advantage of the programming they offer, but we especially want inventors and new entrepreneurs to be aware of the resources available to make their enterprises successful.”
Dr. Dhundale, as Executive Director of LIHTI, joined the SBU Economic Development Group in May 2008, reporting directly to Dr. Yacov Shamash, V.P. for Economic Development. Prior experience includes a decade as the Scientific Director at the Center for Biotechnology at Stony Brook University where he became expert with early stage biotechnology commercialization. Before joining the University, he gained experience working at a biotechnology company in a start-up diagnostics and research product business where he was responsible for all aspects of this division.
“Stony Brook University and its incubator programs are well-respected for nurturing new companies that begin with inventions,” said Club President Brian Fried. “We want Suffolk County inventors to become familiar with all of the offerings, and to be prepared to participate in START-UP New York.”
The Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 17th from 7-9 p.m. in the Media Room of the H. Lee Dennison Building 100 Veterans Highway, Hauppauge 11788.
The Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club continues to grow, with nearly 2,450 people coming through the doors since its inception. Each month there is a speaker and time for inventors to mix with business people, attorneys and those who would like to start their own business. The Club is a meeting place for inventors with patents pending, individuals who have sold inventions, and those who have great ideas but do not know where to start.
There is no charge and no registration is required to attend the meetings, though a valid ID is needed at the door. For more information, call (631) 853-4805 or e-mail: lisaann.broughton@suffolkcountyny.gov.
