Tuesday, November 19th, 7:00-9:00pm
(Hauppauge, NY) County Executive Steve Bellone announced that the Suffolk County Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club will welcome Jonathan I. Ezor, Director of the Touro Law Center for Innovation in Business, Law and Technology (IBLT), and an Assistant Professor of Law. The IBLT provides education about and promotes best practices in risk management for technology-enabled businesses, in areas including privacy and data protection; intellectual property protection and licensing; cybercrime and security; e-commerce; online marketing and advertising; social media and electronic discovery.
“Many Suffolk residents are not aware that we have a first-rate law school adjacent to the Courts in Central Islip,” said County Executive Bellone. “I applaud Touro Law School for creating the Institute for Business, Law and Technology and for providing our businesses and aspiring inventors the resources necessary to expand their business while providing local law students with real-life work experiences in patent law and technology development.”
A technology attorney for more than seventeen years, Professor Ezor has represented advertising agencies, software developers, banks, retailers and Internet service providers as well as traditional firms, and has been in-house counsel to an online retailer, an Internet-based document printing firm and a multinational Web and software development company. Ezor is a graduate of Brandeis University (Magna Cum Laude; Phi Beta Kappa) and Yale Law School. He teaches courses including Cyberlaw, Cybercrime, Licensing Intellectual Property, International Intellectual Property, Privacy in the Digital Age, Negotiable Instruments and Payment Systems, and the Business Technology Law Externship. He also established and directed Touro’s first summer law school program in Jerusalem, Israel in 2008.
Club President Brian Fried stated, “We are always seeking out resources for Suffolk County inventors, and the Institute at Touro Law School is a tremendous resource for those who need legal advice or who are working on a new technology idea.”
The Inventors and Entrepreneurs Club meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 19th from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. in the Media Room of the H. Lee Dennison Building 100 Veterans Highway, Hauppauge 11788. (Use the EAST Entrance to the building.)
