(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Legislature Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory today released the following statement in recognition of International Women’s Day 2016:
“Today we celebrate the many social, cultural, economic and political contributions that women have made to our communities, our nation and our world. Here in Suffolk County, six of my fellow legislators, including Majority Leader Kara Hahn, are women, as are my two chief legislative aides. I am also proud to have recently appointed two new members to the Suffolk County Women’s Advisory Commission, which advises county officials on policy issues relevant to local women. On this International Women’s Day 2016, my colleagues and I reaffirm our commitment to promoting gender parity and enhancing opportunities for all Long Island women.”
