(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police on Thursday, September 17, arrested a man for robbing a Lindenhurst bank and attempting to rob a bank in Deer Park earlier this month.
Utilizing video surveillance, Pattern Crime Unit detectives identified Tony Diaz, 24, of Deer Park, as the man who robbed Capital One Bank, located at 300 South Wellwood Ave., Lindenhurst, on September 9.

Further investigation revealed that Diaz also attempted to rob TD Bank, located at 2178 Deer Park Ave., in Deer Park on September 12. Detectives placed Diaz under surveillance and he was subsequently arrested on Thursday, September 17 without incident.
Pattern Crime Unit detectives charged Diaz, an admitted heroin addict, with Robbery 3rd Degree and Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree. Diaz will be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 18.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
