Boats, tools, electronics, and more up for grabs, cops say
(Long Island, NY) One man’s loss is another’s gain; this appears to be especially true in Suffolk County this week.
A large variety of property and items seized during the course of criminal investigations are due to be auctioned off by the Suffolk County Police Department on Wednesday, June 19, at 8:30 a.m.
The auction, scheduled to be held at the Property Section building adjacent to Suffolk Police Headquarters at 30 Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank, will see the dispersal of a huge assortment of legally seized property.
Among the items authorities stated will available for purchase by bidders will be boats, tools, electronics, automotive and household items, gun/firearm accessories, snow blowers, lawn mowers, clothing, jewelry, and coins, among others.
Police Departments across the nation regularly hold auctions of this type, and savvy shoppers could pull in quite the find at a rockbottom price, Sergeant Lee of the Suffolk County Police Department said.
“Items at the auction could have been evidence in a trial or lost or stolen property that was never claimed,” he said. “Most items are brand new and still in the package.”
The event will be held rain or shine and all items will be sold in “as is” condition. All sales are subject to New York State sales tax. Police will only accept cash payments.
Suffolk Police made a note of saying that motor vehicles and motorcycles will not be made available for sale at this auction.
