(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Patchogue man on Wednesday, October 28.
Christian Hernandez was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Montauk Highway when he crossed into the eastbound lanes and collided with an eastbound 2013 Toyota Prius near Broadway Avenue in Sayville at approximately 8:45 p.m.

Hernandez, 23, was transported to Southside Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota, Qin Zhang, 32, of Brooklyn was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation is continuing and the vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
