(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers rescued a bird that was entangled in string on an offshore fuel platform on Sunday, August 30.

Marine Bureau Officers Charles Marchiselli and Michael O’Leary were aboard Marine Bravo when they observed a bird tangled in string along the railing of the National Grid Northport Platform, located approximately 2 miles north of the Northport Power Station, at approximately 11:15 a.m.

The officers were conducting a Homeland Security check of the platform, which is used to offload fuel for the National Grid Northport Power Station, when they saw the bird.
