(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of an Elmont man for Robbery that occurred on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 6:27 am in Elmont.
According to Robbery Squad detectives, defendant Joseph A. Chevez, 34, entered the Shell Gas Station – 1360 Hempstead Turnpike and demanded money from the 27 year old male victim. The victim complied and the defendant fled the scene on foot northbound onto Covert Avenue.

A subsequent investigation lead to the defendants’ arrest in front of his home on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 9:06 am. There were no reported injuries. Proceeds were an undetermined amount of US currency.
Defendant Chevez is being charged with Robbery 3rd Degree. He will be arraigned on Monday, February 29, 2016 at First District Court, Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
