(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Squad reports the arrest of Selvin Esquivel, 33 of Uniondale, for a Burglary that occurred on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11:15 am in Roosevelt.
According to detectives, a 24 year old female victim was upstairs in her Underhill Avenue home when she heard a noise on the first floor. The victim went downstairs to investigate when she was met by two males both armed with black handguns. The subjects ransacked the entire home while subject # 1 stayed with the victim. The subjects then fled the scene in an unknown direction. Proceeds were a cell phone, assorted jewelry and an undetermined amount of US currency. There were no reported injuries.

According to Robbery Squad detectives the defendant was located at the Nassau County Correctional Facility where he was being held on unrelated charges. Esquival was charged with one count of Robbery 1st degree, one count of Burglary 1st degree, one count of Robbery 2nd degree, one count of Burglary 2nd degree, one count Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd degree and Endangered Welfare of a Child. He has been previously arraigned for these charges at First District Court in Hempstead.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
