Take Center Stage at Annual Fashion Fundraiser for Breast Cancer
(Islandia, N.Y.) The Arbors Assisted Living Community at Islandia East recently hosted its Fifth Annual “Celebration of Life” Fashion Show Event, which benefitted Breast Cancer Help, Inc., a not-for-profit community based organization that offers free services to cancer patients and survivors.
The fundraiser rolled out guest models sporting the latest fashions. Models were comprised of breast cancer survivors as well as The Arbors staff and residents, some of whom also worked several months crocheting home-made blankets that were raffled. The event kicked off with a flag ceremony led by Boy Scout Troop Number Nine, which was followed by opening remarks made by Islandia’s Mayor Allan Dorman. Noelle Eichenlaub, Cristen Feeney, and Meagan Materazo of Long Island’s singing group, The Teeny Boppers, performed a rendition of Andrew Sisters’ songs, which generated a great round of applause.
Several local businesses also stepped up in supporting the event and donating their time and services. All runway apparel was provided by Laurie Williams of Bellport’s Dress Barn, make-up services were provided by Rose Torraca of Mary Kay Cosmetics, hair styling and design services were provided by Barbara Castronouva from Caine Coiffeurs, and event decorations were provided by Party Glitters of Hauppauge.
