(Springfield Gardens, N.Y) The second Teens and Young Adults Job Fair sponsored by Community Attorney, Jacques M. Léandre and District Leader, Jacqueline Boyce; and cosponsoredby Rev. Corey Terry and Parent-Life Coach, Terryl Ebony de Mendonca, will be taking place on Friday, September 27, 2013 at I.S.59 (132-55 Ridgedale Street) from 3PM- 6PM.
The Law Offices of Jacques M. Léandre PLLC is a community law office, which specializes in civil rights and community empowerment law. The Local Development
Corporation of Laurelton, Rosedale and Springfield Gardens is a non-profit community organization that work in partnership with public agencies, private corporations, and
community organizations to bring new businesses and diversity while promoting economic growth and vitality in the community. Our Brothers Guardian Inc. is a youth mentoring organization designed to help Elementary, Middle and High School students, as well as young adults to prepare for a productive future through positive reinforcement, mentoring, vocational training programs, and internships.
Misunderstood Youth Development Center empowers disadvantaged at risk youth with the necessary tools to help increase selfawareness and self-esteem, which will provide them opportunities to acquire a better understanding of people and their surroundings as they become independent leaders. These organizations collectively bring legal, social, and economic justice to the Southeast Queens community, and now they bring to you their 2nd Teens and Young Adults Job Fair; where employers from different sectors of the job market will be under one roof to meet prospective candidates of Southeast Queens.
We are seeking a large turnout and even larger employment rate. The main goals are to show and teach professionalism, life skills, how to obtain and keep a job, and personal growth. We would like to interview and obtain information from the candidates that attend the job fair, after the fact, to follow up has to those who did and did not get employed. In the future, we would like to conduct workshops on how to harness these employment related-skills and make it a part of you. We would also like to get the word out about future endeavors we would like to implement in the community.
Here are some of the employers who will be participating: New York Power Authority, Labor Ready, New York Department of Youth & Community Development, Bath and Body Works, Pathmark, and Old Navy. Bring your résumés and business attire is a must
