(Long Island, NY) Do you play the ukulele? Do you think you could play Twisted Sister’s “I Wanna Rock” on the ukulele or, wonder what Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” would sound like on the ukulele?
The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) is proud to announce that it will be partnering with Ukulele Underground for an international online Ukulele Contest featuring musical renditions of songs by those who have been inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame.
Ukulele Underground hosts week-long contests where contestants can register at http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/ and submit their own variations of music based on a specific theme. March 13-20, 2016 from midnight to midnight (PST), Ukulele Underground member and 2011-2013 Nassau County Poet Lauriat, Linda Opyr, will host Season 213 based upon the theme of those artists who have been inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Players would select songs associated with the artists of their choosing and submit them to the thread. Ukelele Underground will compile a playlist and select “winners” after the conclusion of the week. Participation is always voluntary and free. Seasonistas come from all over the world, including the UK, Australia, Tasmania, Brazil, Indonesia, Holland, Germany, and many of our United States.
Long Island Music Hall of Fame Education Committee Chairman, Tom Needham, said, “This competition is a really fun opportunity for ukulele players of all ages to pay tribute to their favorite Long Island artists.”
Ukulele Underground is an online forum for ukulele players of all abilities from all over the world. Currently, there are over 2,000 active members on the forum. Within the forum is a subgroup of players called the Seasonistas. These players participate in a weekly “season” by submitting a YouTube video based on that week’s theme.
Submit entries March 13th-20th at: http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/
