(Long Island, NY) Today, Tuesday, August 18th, supporters of Planned Parenthood including Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Democratic Conference leader Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins, members of the New York State Assembly and Senate, along with local elected officials and advocacy organizations will hold a press conference to stand up for the quality health care services and compassionate care that Planned Parenthood has provided in the community for over 80 years. This event will be a visible demonstration of support for women’s health care, and underscore the needs of community members who rely on federally-funded programs for health care.
Supporters will deliver the message loud and clear that New Yorkers will not stand for attacks on women’s health. Supporters stand with Planned Parenthood, rejecting political attacks and condemning a recent smear campaign that’s part of a decade-long pattern of harassment by extremists whose focus is banning abortion, and preventing women from accessing preventive health care at Planned Parenthood health centers.
