Touro Law Team Wins Nassau Academy of Law Moot Court XXX Competition
(Mineola, NY) – The Touro Law School team of third-year students Laura Johnson of Holbrook and Ryan Quadrel of Port Jefferson took top honors at the annual Nassau Academy of Law Hon. Elaine Jackson Stack Moot Court XXX, held March 20, 2013 at the Nassau County Bar Association headquarters in Mineola. The team argued before a panel of distinguished judges that included US District Court Judge Frederic Block, Appellate Division Justice Leonard Austin, Hon. Elaine Jackson Stack, Nassau Academy of Law Dean Ralph Catalano, and Nassau County Bar Association President Marian Rice.

Touro’s Ryan Quadrel also won the Justice Edward J. Hart Memorial Award for best oral argument. The award is named after the late litigation specialist and justice of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, Second Division. The Eugene S.R. Pagano, Esq. Award for best written brief went to the team of Jay Y. Oppenheim and Brendan Bertoli of St. John’s University School of Law. In all, 7 student teams representing CUNY School of Law at Queens College, Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, Touro and St. John’s competed for the annual title.
