(Long Island, NY) Hempstead Mayor Wayne Hall and Board of Education President Lamont Johnson will join members of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen as they speak before students about combat missions the African-American airmen flew in World War II and the discrimination they faced in the armed services.
The event will take place today, Friday February 26, 2016 at 12:00 pm inside the Front Street Elementary School (436 Front Street, Hempstead NY). Not Many of these living legends are around today.
The highly decorated legendary Tuskegee Airmen were formed in an era when America’s armed forces were stills segregated. The Tuskegee Airmen initially fought bigotry at home and later fascism abroad as they flew into aviation history, collectively winning the Medal of Honor and eight Purple Hearts for combat missions.
