(New York, NY) Lee Zeldin, candidate for U.S. Congress in New York’s First Congressional District, was endorsed today by Tom Coburn, M.D., U.S. Senator from Oklahoma.
“There is no doubt in my mind that Lee Zeldin is the type of caring, thoughtful, reasonable conservative voice that would help bring an end to the fiscal insanity in Washington,” said Senator Coburn.
“The federal government hasn’t passed a budget since 2007 and Lee Zeldin knows that this is not acceptable. Based on his time as a New York state senator, it is clear that Lee places genuine value in this very important priority. We have to be fiscally responsible and pass well-crafted budgets that help tackle the economic challenges facing America. I have known Lee for several years and I am proud of his service to our country, his integrity, and work ethic.
I am proud that he stood his ground and voiced his opposition to the limitation of our constitutional rights when Albany passed the New York SAFE Act. I have admired his tireless fight for our nation’s military heroes returning home with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. His background as a military officer and a federal prosecutor have given him a deep respect for the written law, and he understands the importance in ensuring that our nation remains a land of opportunity for our citizens. Lee has proven that he is not afraid to make tough decisions for the good of the people he represents—he is exactly the kind of leader Washington needs,” Coburn said.
I am very grateful to Senator Coburn for all of his support and encouragement,” said Lee Zeldin. “We share a reverence for the values upon which America was founded and I am confident that with his continued backing, we can make sure our message is heard in Washington.”
