(Bayville, NY) In celebration of National Volunteer Week, Long Island Volunteer Enterprise (LIVE) will kick off its 22nd year with a landscaping project benefiting the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County’s (UCPN) 48-bed Intermediate Care Facility in Bayville. Paul Lowry, Director of the Bayville Residence, describes the project volunteers will complete as a “spring cleaning,” stating, “the help of the LIVE volunteers will allow our organization to fully devote our resources to the 1,800 individuals with cerebral palsy & other developmental disabilities that we serve.”
The 2014 kick-off project, which will take place on April 11 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM, is one of over 70 projects already submitted to LIVE by nonprofit agencies for adoption this year. Since 1993, corporate volunteers matched to one-day projects through LIVE have completed over 250,000 community service hours for nonprofit agencies benefiting Long Islanders in need.
“The LIVE planning committee is excited to have the opportunity to work with the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County to kick off our 2014 season,” said Sandy Viola, LIVE 2014 Co-Chair and Director at Deloitte. “By example, we hope to encourage corporate volunteer teams across Long Island to get out and adopt a project this year.”
The project falls on the Friday of the 2014 National Volunteer Week, which will run from April 6-12. “LIVE has always been focused on encouraging people to seek out ways to get engaged in their community, a message that Points of Light is looking to spread during this year’s National Volunteer Week,” said Rosemary Mascali, 2014 LIVE Planning Committee Chair and manager at Transit Solutions. “We look forward to once again spreading this message during National Volunteer Week and beyond, throughout corporations across Long Island.”
