(Long Island, NY) Uniformed Fire Officers Association (UFOA) has announced its endorsement of Chris McGrath for New York State Senate in the 9th Senatorial District. The UFOA represents approximately 7,500 active and retired Officers of the New York City Fire Department.
“I am truly honored to receive the endorsement of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association. I am so proud to have such overwhelming support from our first responders they are some of the bravest men and women in the nation,” said McGrath.
“The UFOA has had a long and beneficial relationship with the Senate Republican Majority, and a big part of that is the solidarity of the Senate Republicans in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties. It would be fair to say that the UFOA believes it benefits the entire state to have meaningful input by more than one party at the highest levels of state government. There has to be a check and balance in Albany, and that’s the fairest way for our state to operate,” Battalion Chief James Lemonda, President of the UFOA said.
The UFOA President added that a substantial number of active and retired members live in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and they like the fact that the population of the entire state benefits from a balanced Legislature – representing New York City, Long Island and upstate.
“Chris McGrath is best known for his extensive work on behalf of charities too numerous to mention in his community. He is a partner in a respected law firm, and Fire Officers saw firsthand how helpful he and his firm were in the days, weeks, months and years following the deaths of 343 firefighters at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. And he and his firm did not stop there. Their pro bono work also included assistance to many of those who were injured and sickened from their rescue and recovery work at the site. Many of our families appreciated the pro bono legal advice when it was needed the most,” Chief Lemonda said, adding “Fire Officers and their families do not forget.”
