(Long Island, NY) The Fourth Squad reports an arrest for an Assault which occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. in Valley Stream.
According to detectives, Jeremy Nin, 20, of Valley Stream was in front of his home when he saw a male victim, 20, walking eastbound on W. Merrick Road near Montgomery Street. The victim, known to the defendant, was in the BP gas station at 385 W. Merrick Road when Nin struck him with his vehicle, causing him to land on the hood of the vehicle.

The defendant fled the scene and returned back to his home where he was arrested by responding officers. The victim suffered bruises and lacerations to his face and injuries to both legs. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment for his injuries.
Nin is charged with Assault 2nd degree and Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident with injury without a report. He will be arraigned on Monday, August 17, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
