(Long Island, NY) Former Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman was endorsed by the Nassau Community College Federation of Teachers Local 3150. The NCCFT local represents approximately 700 full-time faculty members.
“I am proud to have the support of the educators of NCCFT Local 3150. While my opponent has pledged to abolish the Department of Education, I pledge to fight for the strong public education system we have here in Nassau County, including Nassau County Community College.”
George Maragos, who launched two failed bids for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate during his first term in office, proudly aligned himself with the Tea Party movement and expressed his support for abolishing the U.S. Department of Education. (Source: http://
During a 2012 radio interview on former Governor David Patterson’s radio program, Maragos said:
“So, why do we need a federal education department at all? Why don’t we scrap it – terminate it.”
