Lauded as tough fiscal watchdog, capable of turning around county finances
(Long Island, NY) Former Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman announced that he has received the endorsement of both United States Senators from the State of New York. Senator Charles Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand both expressed enthusiastic support for Weitzman in his bid for County Comptroller.
“Howard Weitzman will be a tough and independent fiscal watchdog who will keep a keen eye on Nassau County’s finances,” said Senator Schumer. “I am proud to support Howard Weitzman because he has the experience, independence, and integrity needed to best serve the people of Nassau County.”
Senator Schumer is New York’s senior Senator, first elected to the Senate in 1998. Throughout his career, Senator Schumer has fought to make government work for all Americans by cutting through red tape and finding common-sense solutions to challenges facing the middle-class. He has become known for his tireless work to reduce crime, increase economic opportunity, deliver needed aid, like the Superstorm Sandy Relief Bill, and expand access to higher education, including a groundbreaking college tuition tax credit for middle class families.
“Howard Weitzman is a first-rate public servant, and as the only Certified Public Accountant to ever be elected Nassau County Comptroller, he has the skills Nassau County needs to tackle its fiscal challenges,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I enthusiastically endorse Howard Weitzman and I’m confident he will help create a better future for Nassau County.”
The endorsements by Senator Schumer and Senator Gillibrand follow endorsements by State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Governor Andrew Cuomo.
