(Stony Brook, NY) More than 300 hundred guests attended Ward Melville Heritage Organization’s Annual “Jewels & Jeans” benefit dinner at Flowerfield in St. James recently, honoring three individuals with outstanding achievements, service to their community and generosity to Long Island.

DR. L. REUVEN PASTERNAK
Chief Executive Officer, Stony Brook University Hospital
Dr. Pasternak oversees more than 5,000 employees and over 1,000 affiliated and credentialed physicians. A native Long Islander, he came back to Stony Brook last year from Virginia where he served as CEO of the vast Inova Fairfax Hospital campus. Dr. Pasternak received his medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and served on active duty with the U.S. Naval Medical Corps during Operation Desert Storm, retiring with the rank of Commander. All were thrilled to welcome him back to Long Island.

Dr. Koeppel has donated much to WMHO’s acclaimed Education and Marine Science Programs which take place at their Ernst Marine Conservation Center at West Meadow Creek. He has also raised funds yearly for the Center by donating proceeds from his annual White-A-Thon. Dr. Koeppel’s Extensive Dental Practice Is Located In Setauket.

Mr. Owen has generously donated his time, equipment and staff to WMHO and their surrounding historical properties. He was instrumental in helping find the regal spruce that overlooks Stony Brook Harbor and is the centerpiece each year for WMHO’s Annual Tree lighting. Mr. Owen is a trustee for the Village of Old Field.
