(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a woman in East Setauket on Saturday, September 5.
A 77-year-old Port Jefferson Station woman was driving a 2006 Chrysler 300 westbound on Route 347, west of Old Town Road, when her vehicle struck a guardrail at approximately 5 a.m. and went on fire.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652.
