(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a Mount Sinai woman on Friday, February 19.
Kacy McLaughlin was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonata eastbound on Route 25A at Chestnut Street in Mount Sinai at approximately 11 p.m. on February 19 when the driver of a 2000 Toyota Camry, Tejas Acharekar, attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Chestnut Street and struck the Hyundai.

Ekaterina Blednykh, 39, a passenger in the Camry, was transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where she was pronounced dead.
McLaughlin, 23, of Mastic Beach, and Acharekar, 25, of Port Jefferson, were transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
