(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a West Islip woman on Tuesday, July 7.
Julia Schweers was driving a 2011 Toyota Camry northbound on Higbie Lane when her vehicle struck a southbound 2005 Mitsubishi box truck that was attempting to make a left turn onto Union Boulevard at approximately 5:55 a.m.

Schweers, 19, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck, Antonio Reyes, 45, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check and the investigating is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352.
