(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police have arrested a Wyandanch man on weapons charges following a traffic stop in Wyandanch last night.
First Precinct Police Officers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 1999 Ford Expedition after the driver failed to stop at a stop sign on North 15th Street on January 1 at approximately 7:50 p.m. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the driver, Terrance Ward, was in possession of a loaded defaced .45 caliber handgun.

Ward, 41, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. He is being held overnight at the First Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on January 3.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
