(Long Island, NY) The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Kew Gardens man for Burglary that occurred on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 8:25 a.m. in Bellmore.
According to detectives, First Precinct officers received a 911 call for a leaving the scene of an auto accident on Sunrise Highway and Babylon Turnpike in Merrick. The male victim, 33, followed the subject to the ramp of the Meadowbrook Parkway and communicated the location to the responding officers via 911.

The defendant, Mario Bonilla, 21, was unable to produce a valid driver’s license or registration for a 2014 Ford Edge he was operating. During the investigation it was determined the defendant had broken a window at South Bellmore Auto Care located at 2501 Merrick Road and removed the keys from a desk and fled in the vehicle. He was placed under arrest without incident.
Bonilla is being charged with Burglary 3rd degree, Grand Larceny 4th degree and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations and was arraigned on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
