Brian L. Bank, Plainview, NY, is a member of the Litigation & Appeals Practice Group. Mr. Bank handles all aspects of litigation in federal and state courts, as well as various labor and employment-related matters. He has represented multi-national corporations, small businesses, insurance companies, banks and other financial institutions, public entities, unions, and individuals in litigation and other proceedings involving fraud, consumer protection, false claims act, anti-kickback, RICO, anti-trust, discrimination, defamation, tort, and breach of contract claims.
In 2013, Super Lawyers Magazine named Mr. Bank a Rising Star in the New York Metro region in the area of General Litigation. He has also been recognized for his pro bono contributions. The New York State Bar Association has twice bestowed upon him the honorific designation of “Empire State Council” (2006 and 2008) and Volunteer Lawyers For Justice commended him for his successful representation of a disabled minor in a lawsuit seeking to compel the minor’s school district to provide appropriate special education services.
Mr. Bank graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where he served as the Senior Notes Editor of the Cardozo Law Review and a member of the Dean’s Distinguished Scholars. He was selected for a full-time, semester-long externship at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, where he worked with the Major Crimes Bureau on various criminal matters. Upon graduation, Mr. Bank was awarded the Cardozo Service and Achievement Award and elected to the “Order of the Coif.”

Matthew V. Spero, Plainview, NY, is a member of the Corporate & Commercial Practice Group. Mr. Spero has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors, creditors’ committees, lenders, principals, and landlords in business reorganizations, restructurings, workouts, acquisitions, and liquidations before the Eastern and Southern District Bankruptcy Courts, as well as out of Court. He advocates in connection with a wide spectrum of businesses, including the electronics, health, construction, plastics, garment, automotive, and factoring industries and his clients include retailers, manufacturers, distributors, financial institutions, insurance companies, real estate owners and developers, restaurants, physicians and medical practices, non-profits, unions, and health and welfare funds in cases involving avoidance actions, breach of fiduciary claims, assumption/rejection of executory contracts, and dischargeability of debt.
Mr. Spero is a published author (The Nassau Lawyer, Pratt’s Journal of Bankruptcy Law, Law 360) and frequent speaker at CLEs. He regularly provides pro bono representation, including to the indigent in Landlord-Tenant Court, for which he was honored in 2013 by being named an Access To Justice Champion by the Nassau County Bar Association. He is active in the Bankruptcy Chapter of the Nassau County Bar Association, the Turnaround Management Association, and the New York State Bar Association (Business Law Section and Bankruptcy Committee).
Mr. Spero is a former Vice President and board member of the Chaminade Alumni Association and the former President of the Chaminade Businessmen’s Association. He is also a mentor in St. John’s University School of Law’s mentoring program. Mr. Spero sits on the Board of Directors of Plainview Little League and coaches youth sports.
