News: Update on Medford Shooting
(Long Island, N.Y.) Long Islanders have been following the case of the alleged shooter at a Medford pharmacy while court proceedings take place in Suffolk County offices. The ongoing investigation and legal inquiries into the incident have led authorities to reveal new information about what happened on that fateful Sunday. The sad reality has disturbed many followers of the case, including the loved ones of each of the four victims.
Video and audio surveillance footage has led police and authorities to gather a clear picture of what happened inside the pharmacy. They have heard the exchange between the killer and the victims while viewing the gruesome acts of cold-blooded murder. In doing so, they have determined that not a single victim resisted the killer and two of them didn’t even know the killer was inside the store.
The alleged gunman was linked to the murder scene by two separate fingerprints made by his left index finger. While his legal aid attorney claimed that the prints could have come from previous visits to the pharmacy, it has been determined that they match the ones on file for his weapon’s permit. More details about the Father’s Day massacre have come from the Suffolk County District Attorney.
After the shooting, both the suspect and his wife were seen on a separate surveillance camera while visiting a nearby convenience store. Police and authorities believe that they intentionally visited the store to form an alibi. They were seen at the Hess Express on Medford Avenue purchasing beverages less than forty minutes after the robbery and shooting.
The suspect was viewed on the second surveillance footage with a clean-shaven face and without a hooded sweatshirt. Police and authorities on the case claimed that he used mascara to help make his fake beard and eyebrows appear darker and more convincing. They claimed to have found the mascara used inside the suspect’s vehicle and are using it as evidence in the mounting case against him.
Seven shell casing from the bullets fired by a .45 caliber pistol were found at the crime scene; six were found inside the pharmacy and one was discovered outside. Reports stated that a thousand pills of hydrocodone, or drugs in the hydrocodone family, were confiscated from the suspect’s home. They were allegedly found in the upstairs closet and will be used as further evidence implementing him in the crime.
Reports also stated that the Suffolk County District Attorney contradicted statements claiming that the suspect had been high at the time of his arrest. While the condition of his wife has been unknown, followers of the case now have reason to believe that the suspect was in a clear state when he was taken into police custody. His next court date is in early September and jury selection is expected to begin early next year.
