(Long Island, NY) Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a fatal two-car crash that killed a Bay Shore woman on Wednesday, July 8.
Andrea Acosta, 22, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer in the HOV lane of the eastbound Long Island Expressway at approximately 4:10 p.m. As she approached exit 57, Acosta crossed over the HOV lane buffer and drove across an additional three lanes of travel. Her vehicle struck a 2013 Hyundai that was in the far right lane of travel.

Acosta, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Casandra Carreon, 18, of Brentwood, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was treated for serious injuries. Francisco Ayaraca, 19, of Brentwood, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, Gregorio Pisciotti, 50, of Patchogue, was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
