(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate two men who stole allergy medication from a drug store in August.

Two men entered CVS, located at 930 Montauk Highway, on August 7 at approximately 5 p.m. and stole approximately 70 packages of allergy medication valued at more than $2,000.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

UPDATE: Tricia Odierna, 42, of Lake Grove, has been identified as the woman who was found dead inside her residence on October 1. The investigation is continuing by Homicide Squad detectives.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a woman was found killed in a home in Lake Grove on Thursday, October 1.

Fourth Precinct Patrol officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:50 p.m. Officers found a woman dead inside.

The cause of the death is under investigation, but it is believed to be criminal.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad and Arson Section detectives are investigating a house fire that claimed the life of a person in Islip on Thursday, October 1.

Suffolk County Police were called to a house fire on Main St., at approximately 3 p.m. A person inside was pronounced dead by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

An autopsy will be performed. The identity of the person cannot be confirmed at this time until further tests are conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is continuing, but the fire is believed to be non-criminal.

(Long Island, NY) The Fugitive Squad reports the arrest of a Brick, New Jersey man on Thursday, October 1, 2015 in Syosset.

According to detectives, Fugitive Squad along with members from United States Marshalls Service located Kenneth Moore, 24, of 106 Baser Lane on Morris Drive and placed him under arrest on a felony parole warrant from the State of New Jersey.

Moore was charged with Fugitive from Justice and will be arraigned at First District Court on Friday, October 2, 2015 in Hempstead.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

(Long Island, NY) Long Island Cares Community Outreach Manager Christine Brown and Hempstead Town officials will join local residents and their dogs in kicking off a pet pantry drive for animals that are in need of food and supplies. The event will take place today, Friday, October 2, 2015, 11am at Red Mango on 721 Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square.

Baxters Pet Pantry is operated by the Harry Chapin Food Bank and the Animal Relief Fund. It makes free pet food and supplies available to pet owning families in need. The purpose is to save animals from going to adoption or shelters because local residents couldn’t afford pet food, veterinary care and other services.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating an incident that left a motorcyclist in serious condition on Thursday, October 1 in Babylon.

At approximately 12:10 pm, Michael Funchus was operating his 2014 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Simon Street, when he lost control of the motorcycle causing it to leave the roadway and strike a tree in front of 31 Simon St.

Funchus, 42, of North Babylon, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where is being treated for serious head and neck injuries and currently listed in serious condition.

Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident and have not been interviewed to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police today arrested a man who attempted to rob an East Farmingdale Bank, earlier this week.

Utilizing video surveillance and witness descriptions, Pattern Crime Unit detectives identified Jonathan Levin as the man who attempted to rob the Chase bank, located at 1745 Broad Hollow Road on September 29.

Levin entered Chase, located at 1745 Broad Hollow Road, at 12:54 p.m., approached a teller and demanded cash. The teller did not comply and Levin fled on foot east through the parking lot.

After identifying Levin the Pattern Crime Unit placed him under surveillance and he was subsequently arrested today without incident.

Levin, 35, of Wantagh, was charged with one count of Attempted Robbery 3rd Degree and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on October 2.

LONG ISLAND, NY – Each October marks the launch of Nassau and Suffolk County’s Fire Prevention Month, and what better way to kick it off than to team up once again with long-time partners Long Island McDonald’s and Kidde to help drive home the importance to Long Island families of fire safety?

On October 1, representatives from Long Island McDonald’s –with Ronald McDonald himself in tow – as well as Kidde and Nassau and Suffolk Counties gathered at the Nassau County Firefighters Museum on Charles Lindberg Boulevard in Garden City for the Fire Prevention Month launch event; Museum Director Alana Petrocelli noted that this great team has been working wonders for years at teaching children how to have fun while preparing for the worst.

“We want to urge our residents to be as safe as possible at home, and part of that is to have an operating smoke alarm and carbon dioxide detector as well as having an evacuation plan,” he said. “It’s my honor to recognize those who have really been there for our great county in promoting fire safety; Long Island McDonald’s has been a constant sponsor of this program, and Kidde, who has been providing the wonderful smoke detectors every year.”
