(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau is investigating a Robbery that occurred on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 5:00 am in Westbury.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, a 40 year old female victim (victim #1) went to the front door of her place of work, Babies R US – 1350 Corporate Drive to let another female coworker inside. An unknown subject then entered the door behind them and displayed a black hand gun.

The subject ordered the victims to the back office, tied up the hands of victim # 2 (60 years of age) with metal type costume handcuffs and had her lay on the floor. Victim # 1 was then forced to open the safe and put an undetermined amount of US currency inside a canvass bag. The subject then restrained victim # 1 with the same type handcuffs and forced her lay on top of victim # 2.

The subject then fled the scene in an unknown direction. There were no reported injuries.

The subject is described as a male black, 5’8”- 6’0’ tall, wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark pants and a black ski mask covering his face.

Furnishing a Historic House

(Long Island, NY) On Thursday, January 14, at 7 pm, Museum Curator Susan Sarna of Sagamore Hill National Historic Site returns to the Koenig Center for the Oyster Bay Historical Society’s first public event of 2016. In her lecture Ms. Sarna reveals how the National Park Service determines the wallpaper, paint, and location of furniture that recaptures President Theodore Roosevelt’s Summer White House. She examines in particular the historical evidence of correspondence, photography, diaries, and interviews, as well as the contemporary evidence of paint analysis.

A man entered Kohl’s, located at 346-160 Route 25A, on December 1, at approximately 5:40 p.m. and stole approximately $90 worth of clothing.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who robbed two pharmacies in the Fourth Precinct area last month.

A man entered the CVS located at 111 Terry Road, Smithtown on November 18 at approximately 2 p.m. and demanded drugs from the pharmacist.

The suspect is also believed to have robbed the Shoprite Pharmacy, located at 335 Nesconset Highway, Hauppauge on November 29 at approximately 1:30 p.m. of drugs.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police officers and rescue personnel from the North Patchogue Fire Department revived an unresponsive woman in East Patchogue on Saturday, December 19.

A man called 911 to report his 72-year-old wife was unresponsive and without a pulse at their home on Rosalie Place at approximately 3:20 a.m. Fifth Precinct Police Officer James Berberich and members of the North Patchogue Fire Department Ambulance responded and began CPR. Multiple shocks were administered from an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED).

Police Officer Arnold Reyes, a member of the department’s Medical Crisis Action Team (MedCAT), then arrived and began to provide advanced life support including administering cardiac medication directly through an intraosseous needle inserted into the bone marrow space.

Within minutes, the woman’s pulse and breathing were restored and she was transported by the North Patchogue Fire Department to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

(Long Island, NY) The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of two men for two incidents that occurred at 6:55pm on Saturday, December 19, 2015 in Valley Stream.

According to Detectives, defendant Kirk D. McRae Jr., 31, of Brooklyn was involved in a verbal altercation with two female complainants while on line at register 11 located inside Walmart located a 77 Green Acres Road. The defendant was armed with a four inch black handled razor knife that he waved in the air, causing the complainants to fear for their safety. No injuries were reported.

As Police Officers were placing defendant McRae under arrest, he began to resist arrest by struggling with officers and then did forcefully rip off an officer’s baton and baton holder from his duty belt. As defendant McRae was being transported in the police car to the precinct for arrest processing he did cause a disturbance while in the rear seat and attacked an officer by biting him on his forearm. He was controlled and the transport was completed.

As officers were placing defendant McRae under arrest and walking him through Walmart to the outside, defendant Shane Marco Bingham, 20, of Queens Village began using his cellular telephone camera to video tape officers.

At 6:58pm defendant Bingham tried to get closer to the scene and was asked to step back, as he did a six inch gravity knife with a red handle was sticking partially out of his rear pants pocket. At that time, the defendant was advised that he was under arrest. Defendant Bingham did resist arrest by swinging his arms violently and kicking his legs to get away from officers. Due to this altercation Officers sustained a sprained elbow and sprained wrist.

Defendant Kirk D. McRae is charged with Menacing 2nd, Criminal Mischief 4th, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd and Resisting Arrest.

Defendant Shane Marco Bingham is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd, Criminal Mischief 3rd, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th and Resisting Arrest.

Both defendants were arraigned on Sunday, December 20, 2015 in First District Court located at 99 Main Street Hempstead.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. Defendants are entitled to a fair trial with the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Squad is investigating a Robbery that occurred on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 9:05 a.m. in Garden City Park.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, a male black subject entered the Wells Fargo Bank located at 2499 Jericho Turnpike armed with a silver automatic hand gun with a black grip. He approached a female teller, placed a black draw string bag on the counter and demanded the money. The subject fled on foot northbound on Herricks Road towards Bellwood Drive with an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.

The subject is further described as in his 20’s, wearing dark grey nylon jacket with a hood, ski mask covering the lower half of his face, light pants, dark sneakers and black gloves. There were six employees and two customers in the bank at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

(Long Island, NY) The Fourth Squad reports the arrest of an Oceanside man for Assault of a police officer that occurred on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 9:47 p.m. in Long Beach.

According to detectives, two Fourth Precinct officers while on patrol conducted a vehicle and traffic stop of a 2011 Nissan Altima on Austin Boulevard at California Place North. The vehicle had four occupants including the driver, Adriana Caciopo, 21 of Hewlett, the front seat passenger, Charles Rodriguez, of Oceanside, and rear passengers Francesca Delfino, 19 of Oceanside, and Victoria E. Daniels, 22 of Woodmere.

During the investigation the officers discovered a clear bag containing Marijuana which belonged to Rodriguez. After exiting the vehicle Rodriguez was found to be in possession of gravity knife in his front pants pocket. As the officers attempted to place the defendant under arrest he began to fight with them and resist.

During the struggle Rodriguez attempted to remove one of the officers’ service weapons from the holster as well as another officer’s Baton. Additional officers responded to the scene to assist in placing Rodriguez under arrest. The driver and two rear passengers remained in the vehicle during the struggle.

In addition to the Marijuana, three bags of Heroin, a Hypodermic syringe, cocaine, and a Hallucinogen were recovered from the vehicle.

The officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries and released.

Rodriguez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance 4th degree, (4) four counts of Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, (2) two counts of Robbery 2rd degree (attempt), Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 7th degree, and Resisting Arrest.

Cacioppo, Daniels and Delfino are charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree.

All defendants will be arraigned on Sunday, December 20, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a pedestrian was struck and killed in East Patchogue on Friday, December 18.

Vanessa Clarke was driving a Hyundai Sonata northbound in the left lane of Sills Road when her vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the roadway from west to east at approximately 8 p.m.

The pedestrian, Peter Alker, 56, of Mastic Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Clarke, 36, of East Patchogue, and her two passengers, an adult male and a 1-year-old girl, were not injured. Clarke stayed at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

(Long Island, NY) Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a Robbery that occurred on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 7:08 pm in Valley Stream.

According to detectives, while sitting in her car in the parking lot of Da Vinci’s Pizza, 640 W. Merrick Road, the 41 year old victim was approached by a male black subject who leaned into the driver’s window and placed what the victim believed to be a gun into her side.

The subject demanded her cash and told her to get out of the car. After complying with his demands, the subject entered the car and fled the parking lot driving eastbound on W. Merrick Road in her 2007 Volkswagen Jetta.

The uninjured victim described the subject as being approximately 30 years old, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
