(Long Island, N.Y.) On Thursday, February 9th 2012 Nolcha hosted their 11th Season of Nolcha Fashion Week in Manhattan at The Ailey Studios. Nolcha is one of NYC’s leading platforms for emerging fashion designers. The brands who presented their collections included designers from Turkey, Greece, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, The Philippines, Italy, and the United States.

Celebrity attendance included singer, actress and TV Personality, Adrienne Bailon. Ms. Bailon was there to support Latina designers Rebeca Tiago and Charlyn Castro-Rojas. She arrived wearing a chic Rebeca Tiago frock. LuAnn de Lesseps from Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York also supported Nolcha Fashion Week designer, Danilo Gabrielli. The Countess and Realty Star was seen front row filming a new episode. Other front row guests throughout the day included reality TV alums like Graham Bunn (The Bachelorette & Bachelor Pad), Kwame Jackson (The Apprentice), Jo Lance (Mexico’s Next Top Model), and recording artists including Prince Malik, Motown Records newest girl group “Jada”, MBK recording artist Daisha and Z100 radio personality, Trey Morgan.

Baruni Fall 2012

Created by Fadwa Baruni the collection’s influences are drawn from the structured world of engineering. Fadwa Baruni’s professional career in Europe and her North African heritage inspired her Fall 2012 collection. Contemporary culture has a strong bearing on her designs but her heritage going back to a leading family in Tripolitania in the early 20th century also has a strong bearing on her style.

The Baruni collection is designed for the woman who enjoys a full life and who requires a wardrobe for comfort. The collection reflected today’s modern woman relaxing at home with the family, making presentations at the office or partying with friends till dawn.

Trained at Edinburgh College of Art and the Indian master-tailoring Pearl Design Centre, Fadwa collaborates strong fashion sensibilities with her earlier training in engineering to design a collection that displays sophisticated, clean lines and sharp tailoring for a constructed look and an easy fit.

It was during her career as a petroleum engineer in Edinburgh that Fadwa realized fashion houses did not cater to the professional woman who requires a wardrobe that can take her from the office to an evening event, with just the addition of some glitzy accessories. She thus channeled her frustration into her passion for dress design and Baruni Couture was born.

Vassilis Emmanuel Zoulias Fall 2012

Vassilis Collection inspired by Classic Vintage with a Modern Twist. Greek designer Vassilis Zoulias accomplished his goal by presenting Fall/Winter 2012/13 demi-couture collection impressing international press and fashion industry representatives.

Classic fabrics such as cashmere, crepe marocain, duchesse satin, shantoung and taffeta as well as Haute Couture techniques were used to create the 1940’s-1950’s and early 1960’s inspired collection. It was homage to timeless icons, elegant women that graced the world of fashion during the Golden Age of Haute Couture. This retro-chic atmosphere that still influences our style was the emphasis of Zoulias’s Fall 2012 Collection. The designer married team of Falguni & Shane Peacock showcased their Fall 2012 collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This is their second time presenting their collections.

Known among celebrities and A-listers for their ultra feminine and glamorous women’s wear, Falguni & Shane’s fall collection was accented with feathers, sequins, and tribal prints. The collection was rock and roll with a sexy glam twist. Recording Artist Ashanti attended the event wearing a Falguni and Shane Peacock Design.

EMILIO CAVALLINI FALL 2012

Legendary Italian hosiery designer Emilio Cavallini showed his new Fall 2012 collection in the Box for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Lincoln Center. This season Emilio presented more than just a collection of sexy tights. The show was created to incite a woman’s sexual fantasies. The presentation was complete with free champagne and a short film entitled “Risqué Business at the Florence Excelsior Hotel” shown on a dramatic 21-foot screen. The flick captured a woman in her hotel room trying on pair after pair of her new collection of sexy tights and bodywear from what must have been a major shopping spree at the Emilio Cavallini boutique.

ZANG TOI FALL/WINTER 2012

The show opened with an ivory fox coat over an ivory French lace dress creating a powerful statement of sophistication and luxury. Toi focused heavily on extravagant details including jackets with mink collars and lapels, silk satin dresses with long flowing velvet ribbons embellished with ombre beading. Statement pieces included a matching black jacket and trouser with ivory topstitching, a printed zebra silk velvet coat, and a strapless black evening gown with ruffled tulle. Significant hues included black with white and red and black.

VENEXIANA FALL/WINTER 2012

Philip Pelusi of Tela Beauty Organics created the Renaissance inspired gorgeous hairstyles at the Venexiana fall/winter 2012 collection at New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Lead hair, Jeffrey Reitz for Tela Design Studio, and Pelusi created a romantic upswept Renaissance look with multiple textures and a defined center part. Seventy fabulous looks featured in the runway show, a stunning collection of gowns and cocktails dresses designed by Kati Stern. Notable looks included a dark green evening gown that featured a sequin serpent shoulder strap.

FARAH ANGSANA FALL/WINTER 2012

This season the collection was inspired by the “Year of the Dragon.” Luxury fabrics included lace, silk chiffon, silk wool, wool crepe, and tweed lurex. Floor length gowns and cocktail dresses ruled the runway embellished and adorned with crystals and sequins.

The Farah Angsana Collection can be seen worldwide at high society events in Paris, Rome, London, New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Dubai, and other cities. I chatted with the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” Kathy and Melissa before the show wearing Farah’s creations.

JAD GHANDOUR FALL/WINTER 2012

During New York Fashion Week Jad Ghandour presented his fabulous runway show took at Cipriani on 42nd Street. The Fall collection was inspired from old Hollywood emulating the screen sirens: Joan Crawford, Bette Davis and Greta Garbo.

The collection focused on rich, pungent shades of mustard, burgundy and olive, paired against luxe furs, silk tulle, crinkled silk chiffon and wool. Afterwards I interviewed the designer and Realty TV Star Cynthia Bailey from “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

London’s newest international label, Negarin launched their collection in the Box at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The contemporary womenswear label was created by Negarin Sadr and her team. The collection was inspired by a vivaciousness of the East blended with a calm sophistication of the West. Negarin’s vision is to create desirable clothes that are also technically highly sophisticated.

The Helen Yarmak showroom located in the Penthouse Suite of the luxury Crown Building presented the collection to affluent clients and members of the press. The inspiration this season was a Russian Fairy Tale. Royal rich mink, sable and lynx were the signature furs. The versatility of the pieces were reversible and alterable by removing a collar or unzippering a section of the fur garment making the collection ideal for both young women and sophisticated fur wearers for forty years. Identical twins To-Tam & To-Nya Sachika, born in Paris, France was raised in a large family of artists & entrepreneurs. As youngsters the duo tandem knew they would be creating art. (Long Island, N.Y.) Rubber Skunk is a gritty New York City based funky high energy band, eager to claw, spray and jam its way up to the top of the music charts.

The band is comprised of Thomas Mintel on drums, Grant Fisher on guitar/vocals, Bob DiGiacomo on bass and Jordan Vincent on keys as well as vocals. The band began its roots with a strong following from the University of Delaware. Two renegade engineering students collaborated together possessing only a strong loud drum kit, an orange Les Paul and the desire to take music into the 21st century. Within a few weeks the band was blasting through 7 hour practice sessions twice a week and laying the foundation for their sound. In another 3 months the band was playing to a capacity crowd regularly at local music bar Homegrown Cafe. They expanded their reach further playing the charity-gone-intox festival Skidfest to a rowdy 2,000 and later to the century-old Arden Fair. After graduation they migrated to their current base in New York City. Rubber Skunk made their city debut at Sullivan Hall, a great home to funk and jam music in Greenwich Village. The band successfully repeats performances at the semi-monthly event Funk Fest.

Rubber Skunk recorded their self-titled debut album at Rough Magic Studios (MGMT, Blackstar, Vampire Weekend, Soulive). At these sessions they were graced with many special guest artists, including rising star Nigel Hall and young legend Maurice Brown. Funded almost entirely by fan support, this CD has 12 original songs ranging from 70’s funk (The New Instafunk, Faug Tossers) to Experimental Rock (Wolfwoman, Love In Blue and Yellow) with plenty of surprises thrown in. Equally satisfying at a dance party as on your earbuds in a crowded subway car, this record is extremely diverse and represents the “shuffle” generation of music listeners who appreciate many genres. Amidst the mustached droll of twentysomethings bearing low grade synthesizers and 3 chord melodramas, Rubber Skunk rings through with their balls to the wall live performances and intricately realized compositions.

The Skunks are all accomplished players with international touring experience and recording/performance credits with artists such as Saxophonist Chris Potter, Grammy-winning bassist John Benitez, and virtuoso guitarist Hernan Romero. Besides performing at the famous Sullivan Hall, the band has also appeared at Crash Mansion, The Blue Note, The Bitter End, The Shrine and National Underground.

After rocking with the band I had chance to interview the publicity man himself Scott Epstein.

Although beginning the entrepreneurial stint of his career on a part-time basis while teaching, Epstein since retirement in 2002 used his marketing, advertising, and press relations skills to become the #1 Talent Booker/Publicist in the wrestling and bodybuilding communities and has since delved into the market of celebrities for autograph signings at such huge events across the country as Wizard World and ComicCon.

Scott O. Epstein, founder and Executive Director of PMS is a published author, publicist, talent booker and published photographer as well as a respected promoter in the bodybuilding and wrestling communities.

Low and triumphantly received a trophy for best developed arms in America which established a close relationship between himself and Epstein.

Soon after, Graham was booked to head the northeastern circuit of the WWWF and eventually defeating long running champion Bruno Sammartino for the famous title.

Presently Scott Epstein is booking talent for wrestling and branding markets in bodybuilding and MMA. Scott continues to align with many celebrities outside of the wrestling/bodybuilding industry and engages in media relations as well as writing press releases. He is currently co-writing biographies on Brutus Beefcake and Ivan Putski.

The synopsis of the play involves a community Dog Park on the Upper West Side that is being shut down due to an evil real estate tycoon’s commercialization project for building luxury high-rises. This colorful array of dog owners that span from an out-of-work opera singing Maltese owner to a gay Frenchie owning couple decide to protest to ensure their loveable pet dogs have a place to frolic and play but also are advocates for green space. This Off-Broadway production spoofs iconic figures and is filled with madcap physical comedy. It also demonstrates useful tactics that communities use to promote their cause such as petitions, “poop” protests, dog kidnappings and an all night stakeout along the vein of “Occupy Dog Park” as well.

The percentage of the funds for Wednesday’s February 1st, 2012 performance as well as the funds from the Fundraiser Gala on January 9th were donated to Bidawee. After the productions guests were treated to a wine reception where they were able to meet and greet the cast of this delightful play.

The play is beautifully and perfectly written by Maura Kelley. Maura has always been a fan of the canine species. She was raised with adorable pugs and at the moment makes her living by painting pet portraits.

She focused her energies into directing productions about 6 years ago after she started directing sketch comedies and shows that she had written. Some of these shows in addition to numerous sketch shows were: Scramble (a variety show), Law and Odor (a spoof), Almost Housebroken (a sketch show with a puppy).

As a director she has worked in summer stock, directed in and around NYC and has produced her own plays and musicals. Additionally she pursues playwriting and has recently penned a full-length entitled Echar Agua de Milagro del East River. Her career goal and mission is quite simply to direct projects that she is truly “passionate” about.

On February 9th I hosted the Valentines Filmmakers Party at Gizzi’s located at 16 West 8th Street in the West Village. The evening was a wide array of various filmmakers, comedians and singers gathering together to showcase their work.

Cognac Wellerlane interviews Filmmaker David Van Keuren about his film “Legerdemain” and Actor Luke Guldan about the newly released Lionsgate film “The Watermen” directed by Matthew Lockhart at Gizzi’s in the West Village.

At the event I had a chance to chat with several filmmakers about their work including Filmmaker David Van Keuren about his film “Legerdemain,” Actor Luke Guldan about the newly released Lionsgate film “The Watermen,” Filmmaker William Newman’s “Dying Wishes” and Filmmaker Philip Snyder” “A Fairwell to Arm.”

David Van Keuren’s film “Legerdemain” involves two pickpockets who both come to find that they have more in common than they realize.

David is a recent graduate of Buffalo State College where he pursued studies in media production. Mr. Van Keuren has diverse experiences as a production assistant on multiple television series, a feature film and has recently completed a successful internship with BBC New York Productions. He has completed two documentaries and a short film. His interests include writing short stories, video production and photography.

At present he is involved with Get Serious Productions. Get Serious Productions is a production team created by student filmmakers from Buffalo State College. Enthusiastic Actor Luke Guldan spoke about his recent flick “The Watermen” released by Lionsgate Films. The synopsis of the tale involves a crew of Watermen who abduct individuals in sailing vessels to grind their flesh and make bait. Six youngsters have their motor yacht sabotaged and they are stranded in the sea. The crew of a trawler rescues them and they drink spiked water and pass out. When they awaken they learn that they are trapped on an island and they have to fight against the sadistic men to survive. The film is written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and edited by John Walls.

Luke Guldan is an actor of many diverse interests with a strong work ethic and an uncontrollable determination to succeed. Luke graduated from the University of Florida and as a child excelled at athletic pursuits. He was inspired to pursue acting after his first lead role as “The Nutcracker” in his fourth grade production of the Christmas play of the same name.

The New York Dance Alliance was incorporated in Manhattan in the early autumn of 1993 and was established by Executive Director Joe Lanteri to create a dance convention with a cutting edge point of view. Mr. Lanteri’s first step was to contact the person that would help him create this vision, NYCDA Managing Director, Leah Brandon. During the winter of 1994 NYCDA journeyed to four metropolitan cities with their original five distinguished faculty including Suzi Taylor, AC Ciulla, Lisa Danias, Alan Onickel and of course, Joe, himself.

The first regional season began in 1994 through 1995. The beginning season included ten regional cities and the very first National Season Finale!

On Friday January 13th Indy filmmakers attended several special screenings at Gizzi’s Cafe in the West Village.

Filmmaker and Producer Solomon Chertok hosted the evening along with Radio Host Evan Ginzburg of Legends Radio.

Two notable films that screened included fan film, “Little Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Magic Scrolls,” produced by Jordan Wachtell of Print Media NY (www.printmediany.com) and “I’m Coming Out” produced and directed by Gabe Klavun.

A web developer with a passion for the arts, Gabe Klavun is the producer of The Berkshire Music Project, a CD featuring regional artists which was covered by The Berkshire Eagle. The CD played on WSBS Radio (860 AM, 94.1 FM) and sold locally in well-known stores. He also produced a series called “The Improv!” for CTSB-TV. Gabe served as a consultant to Wachtell Studios on the “The Little Indiana Jones” YouTube film production. Mr. Klavun is an award-winning graduate of the New York Digital Film Academy. He is a self-taught 3-D animator and has produced “one-person a cappella” singles for YouTube. Mr. Klavin’s work is exhibited through 14th Colony Artists in Millerton, N.Y. He is a graduate of Grinnell College in Iowa and has accomplished graduate work in atmospheric science at Pennsylvania State University. Gabe recently published his works in the American Meteorological Journal. The story of “Little Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Magic Scrolls” is the latest kid’s flick from Wachtell Studios. Taking inspiration from George Lucas and Steven Spielberg’s epic movie, this flick finds Indy and Marion, portrayed by adult actors, kidnapped by the brother of Belloq and forced to find magic scrolls that will resurrect the villain. As with the previous movie, “Little Indiana Jones and the Secret of the Magic Scrolls” features many location sites around the New York City suburbs of Harrison and Ardsley. This very entertaining fan flick has fabulous costuming, snakes, an army truck that Indy is dragged behind and dozens of little kids portraying grown up parts. Unlike the Little Batman series, Little Indy never gets boring or tedious. Long Island and New York art lovers can attend an exhibit of a series of Steven Katzman’s photography at the Masters and Pelavin Art Gallery located at 13 Jay Street in Tribeca, New York.

I had a chance to chat with Art Curator Todd Masters and Cheryl Pelavin, founder of the gallery, about this very talented artist.

Steven Katzman is a self-learned photographer who has combined over the years his long-time interest in political science through his photographic journey. Mr. Katzman does not work from anyone’s theories on the appropriate direction for contemporary art. Most of his photographs exemplify the post modernist notion that to be relevant to the final quarter of the 20th century art needs to be political in nature. Katzman is, however, an artist, not a propagandist. Consequently, his images are not overtly political. His art fans and viewers must take time to contemplate about each photograph to arrive at its ultimate message.

Like his forerunners, Jacob Riis, Lewis Hines, and Dorthea Lange, Katzman presents beautifully crafted, matter-of-fact images of his subjects. His series of photographs goes beyond the parameters of photo-journalism. His work can be particularly upsetting, riveting and disturbing perhaps even shocking. Katzman’s goal is never to merely shock, rather to make his viewers think about the image and answer specific questions in his or her mind: Who is the person in the photograph? What is their life like? How do you feel about the issues being raised?

Distinguished Trailblazer honorees being recognized at this year’s event for their outstanding leadership and pioneering efforts included: Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour, America’s first African American female combat pilot, Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, and Wendy Lewis, Sr. Vice President, Diversity & Strategic Alliances, Major League Baseball.

Entertainment was provided by the renowned Warren Daniels Orchestra.

As the 1970’s came to a close, Newsday, the daily newspaper covering Long Island, began publishing a series called “Long Island at the Crossroads.” The publication outlined the issues facing Long Island. The series noted the fragmentation of Nassau and Suffolk Counties and concluded that a plan was needed to take action against these problems and identify solutions. Active leaders in local women’s organizations raised their voices to urge the inclusion of both women and individuals of color in the ongoing deliberations. While their efforts raised eyebrows and brought awareness much was needed to change for the greater good of the community. In April 1982 sixteen inspirational women took a stand to ensure a role for women of African descent in the mainstream of Long Island and incorporated 100 Black Women of Long Island, Inc. The organization worked diligently to tackle several local issues and later joined forces to become an affiliate chapter of the emerging National Coalition of 100 Black Women.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Long Island Chapter Inc. is a tax-exempt organization working tirelessly with more than 7,500 members representing sixty four chapters in twenty-six states and the District of Columbia. This year the organization celebrates thirty years and their vision remains the same and that is to ensure a role for women of African descent in the mainstream of Long Island. This mission remains the principal focus of the organization.

I had a chance to chat with Julie Dade Howard, President of NCBW 100 Long Island Chapter as well as the three recipients receiving the Trailblazer Award, Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour, America’s first African American female combat pilot, Dr. Suzan Johnson Cook, U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom, and Wendy Lewis, Sr. Vice President, Diversity & Strategic Alliances, Major League Baseball.

NCBW 100 LI members include educators, doctors, nurses, senior managers, business owners, filmmakers, homeowners and consumers whose passion about their community and the world has led them to act as change agents. Through their partnerships with local civic groups the organization informs and engages citizens around the issues of health, education and economic development at events like the U.S. Presidential Issues Forum. The organization enables African American women to achieve their dreams of a college education through their Biennial Scholarship awards.

NBW 100 LI also recognizes unsung local leaders with their “Shero Award” and each year’s honors groundbreaking achievements of renowned African Americans with their highest award the “Trailblazer Award” at their annual Black & White Candlelight Ball.

Since being founded by members of the Russian Imperial Ballet in 1927, The Russian Tea Room has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite. The Russian Tea Room with all its elegance has opened its doors to an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians and executives plan their next deals and celebrate their colleague’s latest Carnegie Hall performances.

Countless guests visiting from around the world prance through the antique revolving doors to catch a glimpse of the booth Dustin Hoffman sat in when filming Tootsie; to see the inspiration that Woody Allen found for the movie Manhattan; to walk past the coat check where Madonna worked before she found fame; or to try martinis like the cast of Gossip Girl recently did.

Today The Russian Tea Room still captures modernist Russian style décor hosting Manhattan’s elite as a restaurant for continental fine dining, elegant high tea, the finest vodka selection and a stylish party venue for the most sophisticated patron with discerning taste.

On Christmas day we dined on Zarkuski, a tasting of smoked meat and fish with house pickled vegetables and toast points, Caviar Tasting consisting of three buckwheat blinis with sour cream, chopped boiled eggs, onion, parsley, topped with trout, salmon and white fish roes and their special Herring dish prepared with pickled herring fillets with sliced potatoes, capers, parsley, and extra virgin olive oil with toasted black bread and sour cream on the side.

The Russian Tea Room was opened in 1927 as a gathering place for Russian expatriates and became famous as a gathering place for those in the entertainment and show business industry. In 1929 the business moved across the street to its present location which at that time was an Italianate brownstone built in 1875 by German immigrant John F. Pupke, a tea and coffee merchant. After much success Mr. Pupke’s son later moved to Long Island seeking a more relaxed lifestyle.

In December 1996 Warner LeRoy, former owner of Tavern on the Green, purchased the restaurant from Stewart-Gordon for $6.5 million and closed the establishments doors to the public. After four years and thirty-six million in renovations, it reopened but was unable to re-spark its grandeur. Eventually it closed again on July 28th, 2002 after declaring bankruptcy.

The Russian Tea Room reopened on November 1st, 2006. The restaurant’s interior hasn’t been touched and the extravagant over-the-top decor is the same as when it closed in 2002.

On New Year’s Eve I hosted an event at the newly opened restaurant Dora’ Nonnie’s in Glen Head, Long Island.

Celebrity Chef Danny Gagnon, a season five contestant on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef” has presented his culinary talents to Glen Head patrons. He recently partnered with Rob Byrne, Owner of Bernard’s Market, to create Dora Nonnie Tapas & Wine Bar. The restaurant features the very finest Italian-Asian fusion cuisine.

Gagnon revealed he first learned the artistry of cooking through his grandparents and by working under many important chefs.

“I discovered cooking through my grandmothers, Dora and Nonnie, and something I learned from that time is the Lemon Pistachio Cake, which is on the menu,” he reveals. “I’ve worked with Italian and Asian chefs, and I thought the two are the best cuisines and they’d work well together.”

Savoia will personally take your measurements and cuts your paper pattern based on his measurements. Savoia will also lay out the fabric you choose and he will meticulously go over every inch of the cloth double checking for imperfections.

Savoia traces the pattern onto the cloth and then cuts your garment. Himself!

New York celebrities that attended the holiday bash included Vintage Model Jasmin Rodriguez, Motorcycle Expert Copper Mike, Actor/Photographer Luigi Scorcia and HBO Soprano Star Dominic Chianese.

During our interview at the event Jasmin spoke about her love of vintage couture. She is an avid collector of vintage dresses and most people know her for her unique style. She is also an artist and tries to incorporate all aspects of art in everything that she does. Jasmin reveals, “I am an aspiring designer and I plan to take over the fashion world with my limitless imagination. My whole philosophy on fashion has always been to think outside of the box. My style has no boundaries but I have commonly taken inspiration from the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I love the pinup culture and style however I love being versatile so most of the time I like to clash opposites, different genres of history and fashion and somehow, someway, I make it work.”

Later I chatted with “Soprano” Star Dominic Chianese. Before appearing on the hit HBO TV Series, “The Sopranos” the son of a bricklayer, Chianese was born in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from Bronx High School of Science in 1948 and worked as a bricklayer with his father. Chianese attended night school during the 1950s, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in speech and theater from Brooklyn College in 1961. His love of the theatre landed him a gig in 1952 with a Gilbert and Sullivan repertory company of singers, actors and musicians called The American Savoyards, under the direction of Dorothy Raedler.

Chianese attended his first professional acting class at HB Studios in Manhattan and studied under Acting Coach Walt Witcover. Drama and musical theater became Chianese’s passion. His first Broadway show was “Oliver” in 1965. He has continued to perform in Broadway theatre, Off Broadway and regional theatre. To supplement his income during dry spells he played rhythm guitar and sang in taverns and restaurants. Chianese’s first television credit occurred when George C. Scott recommended him for a role in the acclaimed series East Side, West Side.

In 1974, Francis Ford Coppola cast Chianese as Johnny Ola in The Godfather Part II which established him as a film actor creating more movie roles and plays with Al Pacino.

Chianese is also an accomplished tenor and musician and recently released a CD titled Hits in 2000 which he serenades American and Italian songs.

His son, Dominic Chianese Jr., is also an actor and appeared in the final season of The Sopranos as a member of the fictional Lupertazzi crime family.

His latest project is the second season of the HBO series Boardwalk Empire as Leander Whitlock, a retired Atlantic City alderman.

The Company’s mission is to improve the quality of life for residents of nursing homes through regular interaction with professional artists trained in music and theater. The residents are typically unable to leave their facilities to attend “live” musical or theatrical performances. As a result many residents do not have access to a vibrant social support system to satisfy their emotional needs.

Unfortunately, many such seniors become lonely and depressed. Music and theatre have long been viewed as powerful forms of expression which can elevate depression symptoms. When coupled with the social aspect of visitation from these artists, the approach can be particularly beneficial and uplifting to the residents of nursing homes.

Animal lovers gathered at the 7th Annual Toy Drive for Dogs Charity Event on December 19th at the Mark Miller Gallery hosted by Wendy Diamond and her lovable pet Maltese, Lucky from Animal Fair Magazine.

The event at The Mark Miller Gallery showcased images of the Guinness Book of World Records most photographed canine with celebrities – Lucky Diamond!

Over a decade ago Wendy Diamond’s entire life was transformed when she adopted a little white Maltese, she affectionately calls Lucky. Wendy was immediately inspired by Lucky’s sweet disposition and the unconditional love she provided. In 1999 Wendy founded the premiere pet lifestyle media company, Animal Fair Media. Wendy’s mission is promoting fairness to animals and rescue. Since Animal Fair Media’s constant public awareness efforts the number of animals euthanized in shelters has declined from 12 million to 5 million yearly.

One unforgettable night in 2002, Wendy and Lucky were invited by Ohio hometown friend and model, Raven Toney to the grand opening party of the New York City VBH store, honoring iconic designer Valentino. Wendy was starstruck and delighted to find herself rubbing elbows with celebrities Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant, socialite Nan Kempner, and legendary designer Valentino with his life partner Giancarlo Giammetti.

Wendy wanted to capture the unforgettable moment of this special night, but feeling a bit shy politely asked Hugh Grant if he would like to take a photo with little Lucky instead. Hugh Grant held Lucky in his arms and the first Who Got Lucky? image was recorded.

This loveable pet and charismatic dog, Lucky has sparked global interest becoming the poster face of homeless animals worldwide. Lucky has tirelessly lent her support to countless charitable events and campaigns by joining and taking photographs with celebrities.

Lucky is the Chair Dog of the Katrina Pet Memorial and also has a wing named after her at the Humane Society of New York honoring all she does to help animals in need globally. Some animal-related organizations that Lucky has aided through charity and media attention include: Delta Society, Humane Society of New York, PACT, Pixie Project, Elephant Nature Park and IFAW.

Over 300 A-list celebrities, politicians, athletes and entrepreneurs of the 21st century have been photographed holding Lucky at charity related events breaking the Guinness World Record.
