(Long Island, NY) Third Squad detectives report the details of an arrest for a robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Sunday, 08/30/15 at 5:08 P.M.

According to detectives, Rashawn Galloway, 17, of Hempstead, while on Fulton Ave./Cathedral Ave., approached a male victim, 27, grabbed him by the neck and took his gold chain. The defendant fled the scene.

The victim came upon Hempstead police officers, who then canvassed the area with assistance from the Nassau County Aviation Bureau and Bureau of Special Operations police officers. The defendant was located in the area a short time later.

Galloway is being charged with Robbery 2nd Degree and will be arraigned on Monday, 08/31/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.

(Long Island, NY) First Squad detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred in Roosevelt on Sunday, 08/30/15 at 4:30 A.M.

According to detectives, two subjects armed with a baseball bat, approached a male victim, 32, on E. Fulton Ave./Babylon Tpke., and began striking him on the head with the bat. The victim fell to the ground and the subjects went through his pockets, removing his cell phone, cash, credit cards and NYS Driver License.

The subjects fled on foot northbound on Babylon Tpke.

The victim, who sustained lacerations and contusions to the head and face was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The subjects are described as male blacks. No further description is available.

(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad detectives report the arrest of three men for Grand Larceny which occurred in Westbury between Monday, August 17, 2015 and Monday, August 24, 2015.

According to detectives, Joshua Nembhard, 17 of Westbury, Robin Diaz, 24 of New Cassel and Rodney King, 22 of New Cassel did contact the female victim, 21 on social media with an employment opportunity.

The victim accepting what she thought was new job did give subjects banking information for future direct deposit payments. The subjects removed an undisclosed amount of US currency from victim’s bank account and continued to threaten the victim on numerous occasions for additional US currency.

After an investigation detectives were able to apprehend Nembhard and Diaz on Monday, August 24, 2015 and King on Saturday, August 29, 2015.

Nembhard and King were charged with Grand Larceny 2nd degree and Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Diaz was charged with Criminal Facilitation 4th degree. Nembhard and Diaz were arraigned on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 and King was arraigned on Sunday, August 30th at First District Court in Hempstead.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers rescued a bird that was entangled in string on an offshore fuel platform on Sunday, August 30.

Marine Bureau Officers Charles Marchiselli and Michael O’Leary were aboard Marine Bravo when they observed a bird tangled in string along the railing of the National Grid Northport Platform, located approximately 2 miles north of the Northport Power Station, at approximately 11:15 a.m.

The officers were conducting a Homeland Security check of the platform, which is used to offload fuel for the National Grid Northport Power Station, when they saw the bird.

(Long Island, NY) The Third Squad reports the details of a Robbery which occurred on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 1:30 A.M. in Old Westbury.

According to detectives, three male victims, 20 and two (2) 19 year olds were walking on South Apple Road on the campus of SUNY Old Westbury, when a tan minivan or small SUV stopped and the subject exited the vehicle.

The male black subject, 6’tall, with a gold “grill” on his lower teeth and wearing a red, white and grey sweater approached the victims, displayed a handgun and demanded the victims hover board.

The victims complied and subject fled scene in the vehicle operated by an unknown subject.

No injuries were reported.

(Long Island, NY) The Major Case Bureau reports the details of a Robbery which occurred on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:49 P.M. in Seaford.

According to Robbery Squad detectives, a male black suspect, 5’ 7” tall, 160 lbs. with a thin build wearing a black t-shirt with a white logo, jeans and a gray bucket hat entered the BP gas station located at 3914 Sunrise Highway armed with a handgun. He demanded money from the lone employee who complied.

The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot southbound on Jackson Avenue. There were no customers in the store at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported.

(Long Island, NY) The Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol Bureau arrested 11 people and seized one vehicle during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Smithtown area on Friday, August 28.

Police officers from the Suffolk County Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a sobriety checkpoint at 575 Smithtown Bypass (Route 347) Smithtown. The operation was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs, particularly as a prelude to the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend.

A total of 988 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police arrested an undomiciled man after he stabbed another man in Wyandanch on Friday, August 28.

First Precinct patrol officers responded to South 26th Street for a report of a fight in front of a residence. The victim, Gerald Guerrier, 41, of Wyandanch, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he is listed in serious but stable condition after he suffered stab wounds to his chest and back.

Jameson Fremont, 38, was discovered by police a short time later sleeping in a vehicle at the corner of Wyandanch Avenue and Straight Path and he was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd Degree.

Freemont is being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 29.

(Long Island, NY) Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Lindenhurst on Friday, August 28.

George Banos, 53, was driving a 2000 Saturn eastbound on Sunrise Highway, between New Highway and Straight Path, when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was walking in the roadway at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The pedestrian, Choc Domingo, 40, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Medical Examiner. Banos, of Lindenhurst, was not injured.

The investigation is continuing.

(Long Island, NY) The Second Squad reports the arrest of a Hicksville woman for a Robbery that occurred on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:32 a.m. in Hicksville.

According to detectives, Marina Tsoukalis, 28, entered the Domino’s located at 155 Levittown Parkway, concealing her hand under her sweater appearing to have a gun and demanded money from the female employee. The employee informed Tsoukalis that there was no money in the store at which time she left and entered the Modern Kitchen Chinese Restaurant next store and demanded the money from the male employee who handed over undisclosed amount cash.

The defendant fled on foot southbound towards Levittown Hall and was located a short time later by Bureau of Special Operation officers on Abbott Lane and placed under arrest. There were no injuries.

Tsoukalis is charged with Robbery 2nd degree and Attempted Robbery 2nd degree. She was arraigned on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
