On Thursday November 14th, 2013 between 4:45, and 6:45 PM a female victim valet parked her vehicle at Bangz Hair located at 2773 Merrick Road in Bellmore. Upon arriving home the victim noticed that their silver Macpro Laptop and other personal property were stolen from the vehicle.

The unknown subject pictured above was later caught on surveillance video attempting to sell the stolen laptop at Cell City located at 16 East Sunrise Highway in Freeport. The subject is described as a Hispanic male late twenties to early thirties.

The man removed two light bulbs from a motion-activated light at a home on Warner Lane on February 22, 2014 at approximately 10 p.m. He is also wanted for questioning in regard to other damage done to property at the home, including slashed tires and damaged cable wires.

(LONG ISLAND, NY) The Nassau County Police Department has reported an attempted robbery that occurred in Freeport on March 5, 2014 at 8:00 P.M.

According to First Squad detectives, a male victim, delivering Chinese food to a residence on Raynor St., was approached by a subject armed with a black handgun, who demanded money. The victim dropped the food and proceeded to run to his vehicle. The subject fled on foot through the rear yard of 45 Raynor Street.

No injuries were reported.

The subject is described as a male black, approximately 20 years of age, 5’6” tall, 140 lbs., and wearing all black clothing. No further description is available.

(LONG ISLAND, NY) The Nassau County Police Department has reported a natural gas leak that occurred in Manhasset on Wednesday, March 5 at 11:57 P.M.

Third precinct police officers responded to a 911 call for a gas leak in the vicinity of 124 Chapel Rd. Approximately 63 residents were evacuated from 20 homes and transported to a local fire station. The Manhasset/Lakeville Fire Department along with National Grid and PSEG were at scene. National Grid was attempting to shut off the valve to stem the flow of gas. PSEG shut power down in the area while repairs were being made. At approximately 4:00 A.M. the area was deemed safe and residents were able to return back to their homes.

Electrical power was restored, but gas was not. No injuries were reported.

(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Robbery Squad has reported the arrest of John R. Graham, 31, of 119-70 178th Street, Jamaica for Robbery that occurred on November 12, 2013 at 9:17 AM in Uniondale.

The Nassau County Robbery Squad has reported the arrest of John R. Graham, 31, of 119-70 178th Street, Jamaica for Robbery that occurred at Capital One Bank in Uniondale on November 12, 2013 at 9:17 AM.

According to detectives, Graham entered the Capital One Bank, 929 Front Street and presented a demand note. The teller complied and gave the subject an undisclosed amount of US currency. Graham then fled the scene in an unknown direction. There were six employees and six customers inside the bank. There were no reported injuries.

Graham was also linked to a Capital One Bank robbery in Valley Stream that occurred on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 1:05 P.M. The defendant here too presented a robbery demand note to a teller who complied giving him cash. He then fled northbound on N. Central Avenue to Milford Street. There were eight employees and one customer present at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.

Graham is being charged with 2 counts of Robbery 3rd Degree and will arraigned on March 6, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.

(Long Island, NY) The Nassau County Homicide Squad has reported a Fatal Vehicular Accident that occurred on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 1:15 AM in Roslyn Heights.

According to detectives, a 19 year old male victim was driving northbound Roslyn Road near Locust Lane, when he lost control of his 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. The vehicle struck the curb and then a tree in the rear yard of an Oak Lane residence.

(LONG ISLAND, NY) Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for making graffiti on Port Jefferson Village property.

Port Jefferson Village officials reported that between February 14 and February 15, a person covered a village wall located on Surf Avenue near the entrance to the Setauket Yacht Club with graffiti, including the graffiti tag “Timothy of the Seven Seas.”

Suffolk County Police Officers arrested Saunders, 23, last night at 11:55 p.m. in Coram and was found to be in possession of oxycodone and hydrocodone at the time of the arrest.

Sixth Precinct Gang Unit officers received a lead from a Port Jefferson Village Constable. After an investigation by the Gang Unit, it was determined Timothy Saunders was the man responsible for the graffiti. Officers Christopher Standard and Michael Repperger arrested Saunders last night at 11:55 p.m. in Coram. Saunders was in possession of oxycodone and hydrocodone at the time of the arrest.

Timothy Saunders, 23, of Calverton, was charged with Making Graffiti, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.

Saunders, 23, of 12 Penny Drive, Calverton, was charged with Making Graffiti, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree.

The investigation into possible additional graffiti incidents is ongoing. Saunders was arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

(LONG ISLAND, NY) Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,I,C-Glen Head) voted today in favor of legislation to reform Common Core, but stated more needed to be done to truly repair the controversial standards and curriculum. Assembly bill 8929, which passed the Assembly today, prohibits Common Core testing from counting against students’ permanent records or on teacher evaluation scores, but fails to delay these high-stakes tests or institute the type of long-term reforms necessary to remedy our education system. Montesano urged the Assembly to take up the Minority Conference’s comprehensive education reform measure, the APPLE Plan, in order to ensure our educators and students are given the capabilities to thrive.

“While I’m pleased we took some steps in fixing Common Core, much more needs to be done,” said Montesano. “The Assembly bill we passed today is a first step, but we failed to take the type of major action necessary to mend our broken education system. What we need is a comprehensive reform that provides our children with the world-class education they need to succeed.

“The Assembly Republican APPLE Plan comes with support of the state Senate and would put an end to the high-stakes testing and sharing of private information that fails our students and teachers. I urge the Assembly Majority to take up the APPLE Plan and its common-sense reforms immediately to give our children and educators the type of system where education can flourish.”
